Dear NHS Community,
We are off to a great start! The weather has been just perfect. Students have been able to get outdoors each day and enjoy their recess time before eating lunch. We have scheduled recess before lunch for all students. Studies have shown that allowing children to play before eating fosters a calmer lunchroom and enables more students to sit and enjoy eating their lunch. We hope that this helps students return to the classroom after recess and lunch ready to learn.
Our kindergarten students have been easing into school life. They have come to school at 9:00 AM and have had short days for the first 3 days of school. Beginning tomorrow, Thursday, August 29th, our kindergartners will start the school day on time and follow our regular school hours: 8:25 AM- 2:50 PM. This may mean additional cars in the drop off line. Please be sure to pull as far forward as you can in the drop off/pick up lane. It is essential that drivers stay in their vehicles in the drop off/pick up lane. Please do not get out to give your child a backpack or a kiss. If you wish to help your child, please park in a marked space and walk to the drop off area with your child. As a reminder, the area in front of the school is for BUSES only. Cars should not enter that area during drop off or pick up times.
If you have not already done so, please return emergency cards, permission form for photo/video/technology use etc. to your child’s teacher. All forms should be returned by Tuesday, September 3rd. Thank you for your help with this.
We had our first Fire Drill today. Students exited the building quietly and respectfully. We got high praise from the North Hampton Fire Dept. We will likely have a Fire Drill once a month, weather permitting. This follows state recommendations and highlights our strong partnership with North Hampton Police and Fire Departments.
Our Curriculum Night is scheduled for Wednesday, September 18th, 2019 in the early evening hours. Teachers will present information to parents about curriculum and grade level expectations and goals. This evening event is designed for parents to learn about curriculum and meet the teachers.
