Technology at North Hampton School
In this informational age, preparing students with the technological skills necessary for success beyond secondary school (for college, careers, and life) is essential. Using technology to enhance the learning and application of compassion, determination and integrity increases the level of personalization and development of a growth mindset in our students, teachers and throughout our school community.
All students in grades K-5 take a weekly technology class as a part of their Unified Arts schedule. These classes are taught by the technology integration specialist, Mrs. Carly Herlihy. Some topics covered during weekly technology classes may include: internet safety, digital citizenship, website navigation, internet searches, word processing skills, desktop publishing skills, data display and graphing, beginning programming and coding, beginning photography, introduction to photo editing, introduction to movie making, digital music composition, skill reinforcement websites and beginning computer animation. Working with students for six consecutive years (K-5th Grade) allows students to build and develop skills from year to year. Students continue to use and further develop these skills as they transition into the middle school.
