Weekly Note from Ms. Snyder 12/4

Dear NHS Community,

Well, we certainly had an extra long Thanksgiving Break this year. Kids seem happy to be back at school. As a reminder, please be sure your child has all the necessary cold weather gear to play outside and in the snow. Students will be allowed to play in the snow as long as they have snow pants, boots, coat, hat, and gloves. If they do not have snow pants or boots, Nurse Mara has some things kids can borrow. We have communicated the following expectations to students for safety in the snow at recess:

1. Children must have proper gear to play in the snow--boots, gloves, hats, snowpants, and jacket. If they do not have snow pants and boots, they must stay on the pavement.

2. Have fun, but DO NOT throw snow at or near anyone.

3. Play in the snow, but not on the snow banks facing the pavement side. This is dangerous and the banks are very icy and hard.

4. Be careful running on the pavement. There are icy spots despite being treated.

We try to get outside every day unless it is colder than 15 degrees or the weather in inclement.

Our Middle School Student Government is planning to coordinate a collection before the December break.  Please be on the lookout for information in this week's Friday folder about our student service project that begins on Mon., Dec. 9th benefitting two organizations that serve our Seacoast communities.  The students will learn all about this effort that is being spearheaded by the Student Government during the assemblies on Friday.

School Cancellations/Delays

Whenever there is a need to delay the opening of school or cancel classes, Supt. of Schools for SAU 21, Dr. William Lupini, will make that call. The SAU 21 office will send out notices via school messenger to inform both staff and families of any cancellations or delays.
