Weekly Note from Ms. Snyder 1/22

Dear NHS Community-January 22, 2020

This week, our 7th and 8th graders have participated in lessons facilitated by HAVEN, a local domestic violence prevention agency. HAVEN provides education for our younger students about personal safety and understanding that their bodies are their own. The 7th and 8th grade lessons center around media images and understanding healthy relationships. 6th graders are currently participating in a series of drug abuse prevention lessons facilitated by North Hampton Police Detective Chris Poppalardo. These lessons take place on Wednesday afternoons for about 5 weeks. Our own NHS Health curriculum also delves into topics related to safe choices and human growth and development. Health teacher Pat Guidi and SEL teacher Deb Vasconcellos will be hosting a parent information night to explain curricular topics covered in grades 5-8. Parents received notification of this evening via their child’s classroom teacher or Mr. Guidi. There will be 2 sessions: one for parents of 5th and 6th graders from 5:30-6:30 PM on January 28th and another right after from 6:45-7:30 for parents of 7th and 8th graders. Mr. Guidi and Ms. Vas have also sent home outlines of topics covered in their lessons. Please RSVP if you plan to attend so we have the correct number of handouts. Thank you.

Winter Parent-Teacher Conferences

We will be scheduling Parent-Teacher Conferences during the week of Feb. 3, 2020. We will be offering extended hours on Wednesday, Feb. 5th. This is an early release day so conferences will be available beginning at 12:45 that day. Your child’s teacher will contact you to schedule a time.
