Weekly Note from Ms. Snyder 2/18

Dear NHS Community-February 19, 2020

The JAG Awards-- Thursday, March 5

NHS is planning a BOOK AWARDS assembly for grades K-5. The idea is that we celebrate reading as  close to Read Across America Day as possible and do it in an ‘awards show theme’ format, much like the Oscars. Students will be voting for favorite books in categories that Mrs. McCombs presents in the library. Think things like ‘favorite character in a book series’ or ‘favorite picture book’ as possibilities. There will be a red carpet, and the awards themselves, will be called “Jaggies.” To make this more fun, we will encourage students and staff to dress up like it’s a fancy awards event--yes, RED CARPET! Teachers will be dressed in their finery as well!  Kids can wear sunglasses, sport coats, anything glittery, fancy, fun--even dance recital outfits. We’d like to invite parents to come be ‘paparazzi’ or ‘mama-razzi’ to take pictures on the red carpet. Sound fun? We hope so! We have set aside TH March 5th at 8:45 AM for the event. Oh and you can count on seeing our mascot Jaggy too!

End of Trimester Two

Trimester 2 ends on March 13, 2020.

Written Report Cards will be sent home on March 20, 2020.
