Weekly Note from Ms. Snyder 3/5

Dear NHS Community,

The concerns about Coronavirus are continuing. Here at NHS, we have taken this concern seriously and made some adjustments to our daily practices and cleaning routines. Our custodians and kitchen staff are doing regular deep cleanings and wiping down door knobs, railings, and tabletops with a sanitizer. Each classroom has a spray bottle with sanitizer and/or sanitizing wipes, so surfaces can be wiped down easily. Students are being directed to wash hands before lunch and before snack time each day. We have purchased additional purell dispensers that are mounted in the cafeteria, office, and hallway locations. We also purchased as many pump bottles of purell as we could. Even with these actions, the advice we are given is related to the steps we would take to prevent the spread of cold, flu, and seasonal illness. See the recommendations from the NH DOE below:

NH DOE Website:

COVID – 19 Preparedness

 School staff, students, and their families can take the following steps to help prevent the spread of respiratory infections in schools and their communities:

·         Stay home from class and work until you have been fever free for at least 24 hours without taking any fever reducing medication and you feel better;

·         Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue;

·         Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth;

·         Wash your hands often for at least 20 seconds, especially after coughing or sneezing, or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available;

·         Avoid close contact with people who are sick;

·         Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces and objects; and

·         Get the annual influenza vaccine.

 Parents are encouraged to visit the CDC and NH DHHS website for the most up-to-date information.
