Weekly Note from Ms. Snyder 4/24

Dear NHS Community--April 24, 2020

It’s a rainy Friday, so let’s start with some fun news…..

Mrs. Field, our wonderful Food Service Director invites students to have a Teddy Bear Picnic at home and send her a photo. Her email is: pfield@sau21.org. Please see the attached flyer as this is an annual event.

Teddy Bear Invite

Please see the following message from NHS Student Government:

Dear North Hampton Community,

We are North Hampton School’s Student Government, and we are so excited to be introducing to you a challenge! Each week, Student Government will be choosing a theme, and your job is to create a chalk drawing that goes along with that theme. You will have the entire week to complete your chalk drawing and send it in to this email: studentgov@nhs.sau21.org

We will decide on one winner from three different age groups:

PreK-2nd grade

3rd - 5th grade

6th - 8th grade

We will be judging based on your creativity, effort, color, and all of the elements of a beautiful chalk drawing! On Monday of the next week, we will announce the winners. For this first week, our theme is NHS SPIRIT! All submissions must be sent in with your name and grade level. Thank you so much for your participation! We cannot wait to see all of your fabulous outdoor artwork!

 Stay healthy,

Student Government

Please see the following note from our school counselor, Ms. Vas. She is here to help!

Hello Families,

As we enter week 6 of remote learning all of us have had a variety of experiences within and outside our families. Please know that we are here to support your family in any way you may need.  Families may be changing and those changes may bring about a feeling of loss. During this remote learning period I have been meeting with students and parents one on one via technology.  If you would like to speak with me please feel free to reach out to me at dvasconcellos@sau21.org

Parade: May 1, 2020

We are planning to have a teacher parade on May 1st. We are doing our best to get close to as many streets as we can. North Hampton is a big town! I will send out the route again next week. There are a few corrections to make. One small adjustment involves the area by Alden Rd. We will go down Glendale to Kimberly to Alden. Thanks for your patience. We encourage those not directly on the route to find a safe place to pull over along the route to see us.

Support

We have received inquiries from families who want to help others and from families who may find themselves in unexpected circumstances. Please read the 2 messages below regarding the North Hampton Family Fund and the GoFundMe set up by SAU 21 to support Food Service Programs. Please remember that food service meals are available to everyone at no cost right now and can be picked up at Winnacunnet High School in the mornings on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. See the website for details.

North Hampton Corona Virus help fund

The Town of North Hampton in coordination with the North Hampton School and the North Hampton Youth Association has established a fund for those in financial stress during the Corona Virus crisis.

The fund was anonymously seeded with a generous donation of their stimulus money from a North Hampton couple.

If you or someone you know are in need of assistance to help pay for groceries, medications, utilities etc. please email North Hampton Recreation Director Joe Manzi at jmanzi@northhampton-nh.gov with your request or to gain more information. All requests shall remain confidential. If you are more comfortable or it is more convenient for you, you may also contact Assistant Principal Tracy Griffenhagen at the North Hampton School at tgriffenhagen@sau21.org or Danielle Strater of the North Hampton Youth Association at dstrater2@gmail.com

In addition if you are interested in or have questions about making a donation you may also email jmanzi@northhampton-nh.gov

Thank you to everyone involved in making this happen and for your kindness and generosity.

From SAU 21 Finance Director, Matt Ferreira:

We have received a number of requests on how people can donate to support our free Food Service program. As such, we have created a GoFundMe campaign to accommodate donations for this very important service for our students.
