North Hampton School

Weekly Note from Ms. Snyder 2/13

Dear NHS Community-February 13, 2020

This hasn’t been a snow filled winter, but we are suffering through difficult driving days for sure! Be sure to stay safe out there and make your own best decisions about traveling to school in bad weather.

Food Drive

Many thanks to all who donated to our Food Drive to benefit GATHER! We collected 1640 items! Our first graders were so proud when the van came to pick up the food. It was a great learning experience for them to coordinate, count items, and be part of an opportunity to give to others. North Hampton School truly showed its generosity!

Greenhouse News

Our Greenhouse Stewards have been meeting all winter long and are eagerly planning for planting season. Students have begun planting some seeds indoors. I know the tomato plants have sprouted already! Others will be planted outdoors, so they have to wait a bit. Our Greenhouse Stewards help our students make connections to the Greenhouse and learn about plants and plant life cycles. Many thanks to this volunteer group.

Middle School Social Studies News

In December, the 7th grade social studies students created "stump speeches" and submitted them to a national contest on the Civics 101 podcast. Out of the hundreds of submissions, Lillian Alonso was one of the finalists. This is an enormous accomplishment, considering this contest was opened to middle and high school students. Thanks to Mr. Pope for providing this timely and engaging learning experience.

UNH Arts Reach

UNH Arts Reach theatre group came to UNH last week and presented a performance of an original play called, “Who Thought of That?” to our K-4 students. The play included a time machine and featured imaginary time travel to the times of some famous inventors, all in a format full of fun and humor. We all laughed and learned with the Arts Reach players.

Athletics

Please return all basketball jerseys to Mr. Guidi. Thank you!
