Dear NHS Community--Jan. 25, 2021
We welcomed middle school students who chose to come back to NHS for in person instruction. 6th graders attend in small groups on Mondays and Tuesdays, 7th graders attend in small groups on Wednesdays, and 8th graders attend on Fridays.
Parent Conferences
Parent Conference time is rapidly approaching! Teachers will send home information about how to sign up for a conference this week. All conferences will be conducted using zoom or google meet. We will utilize the afternoon hours on the early release day on Wednesday, February 5th. If this time is not convenient for you, teachers will arrange for a different time sometime during the week of Feb. 3rd.
Annual Food Drive
Our First Grade classes will once again coordinate a food drive to benefit “Gather.” They will announce the items that each grade level is assigned at a virtual assembly on Tuesday. Stay tuned and remember their goal is to collect at least 100 of each item by the 100th day of school. As always, your support and generosity is appreciated. Look for a separate email this week with items assigned to each grade level. You may always send in items for other grade levels. Each year, we ask Gather for a list of items that they need the most. We will begin collecting items on Wednesday, January 27th.
Valentine’s Day
Many elementary grades enjoy exchanging valentine cards each year. Your child’s teacher will send home information specific to their classroom. After consulting with our school nurse and reading guidelines created for libraries about quarantining paper materials, we have a set of guidelines that should be followed if your child’s class is exchanging valentines.
If your child brings valentine cards, there should be one for every member of the class.
No food or candy is allowed. This includes packaged food and candy.
Cards should be sealed with tape or left unsealed. Please do not allow your child to lick the envelopes.
We will quarantine the cards before sharing them, so they need to be sent to school no later than February 8th. They will be distributed then and allowed to sit for 3 days before students open them on February 12th.
