North Hampton School

Weekly Note from Ms. Snyder 2/7/21

Dear NHS Community,

Don’t forget to send in Valentine cards tomorrow if your child’s class will be exchanging cards.

Please note two changes in the ‘dates to remember’ below. The School Board meeting will take place this Thursday, Feb. 11th at 6:30 PM via zoom. I had mistakenly listed it for last week in previous notes. Another correction is for March 17th. There is no school on March 17. It was previously listed as an early release day. Sorry for any confusion related to these corrections.

It’s Spirit Week at North Hampton School! Student Government leaders have organized the week and will be creating a movie to share North Hampton School PRIDE!

Friday is Awareness Ribbon Day by grade. Here is the list: Kindergarten-Animal Kindness (purple); Grade 1- Down Syndrome (yellow); Grade 2-Lyme Disease (green); Grade 3-Leukemia (orange); Grade 4-Breast Cancer (pink); Grade 5-Bone Cancer (white); Grade 6-Alcohol and Drug Abuse (red); Grade 7-Brain Cancer (gray); Grade 8-Child Abuse Prevention (blue).

Valentine’s Day

Many elementary grades enjoy exchanging valentine cards each year. Your child’s teacher will send home information specific to their classroom. After consulting with our school nurse and reading guidelines created for libraries about quarantining paper materials, we have a set of guidelines that should be followed if your child’s class is exchanging valentines.

If your child brings valentine cards, there should be one for every member of the class.

No food or candy is allowed. This includes packaged food and candy.

Cards should be sealed with tape or left unsealed. Please do not allow your child to lick the envelopes.

We will quarantine the cards before sharing them, so they need to be sent to school no later than February 8th. They will be distributed then and allowed to sit for 3 days before students open them on February 12th.

Kindergarten Registration for 2021-2022

Kelly will be accepting registrations for the next school year beginning in February. All registration materials are available online on our website. If you know of any families who have a child who is eligible for kindergarten (must be 5 by September 30, 2021), please send them our way. This is also the right time for families who wish to register for first grade (must be 6 by September 30, 2021) as well. We know of some families who elected to use other schools for kindergarten during the pandemic. We are planning a Parent Information Night for incoming kindergarten families on April 20, 2021 via zoom.
