Weekly Note from Ms. Snyder 3/12/2021

Dear NHS Community,

This warm weather is very welcome. I understand it may not last through the weekend, but with the clock change, we will get more daylight in the afternoon soon! We have been very busy preparing to welcome back many NHS students! Our middle school students return on Monday, March 15th and elementary students who elected to return from RLA come back on Monday, March 22nd.

Bus Update

Just about all of our buses will have additional students riding for trimester 3. Middle School students who will ride the bus will begin on March 15th. You can see the number of students for each bus listed below. There may be times when fewer students ride due to family schedules. We have some important reminders:

Students are required to wear a mask and stay seated at all times

Students should be ready and waiting for the bus outside

Siblings will need to sit in the same seat

Other students will ride one per seat

We are discouraging using the bus for play date friends to get to a home

If you haven’t already requested bus transportation, pleas call Maribeth Driscoll in our office to check for availability.

Here are the bus ridership numbers that First Student has for each bus:

NH1   17

NH2   16

NH3   22

NH4   20

NH5  15

NH6  27

NH7  25

NH8  19

As you can see, bus 6 and bus 7 have more students. There are sibling pairs who will be seated together to allow one per seat for other students. We will do our best to monitor the bus ridership.

Middle School Students and Computers

Middle School students should plan to bring their laptop to school each day. They will be able to bring it home with them each night and will be expected to keep it fully charged. We are hoping to buy neoprene sleeves to protect laptops and will give them out once we get them. Thank you.

Returning RLA Students

Classroom teachers will contact parents to set up a “Meet the Teacher” zoom next week. Students return to NHS on March 22nd. They should bring their NHS issued device and charger with them. Elementary students do not take their devices home each day. There is a fee for lost chargers so please be sure to return it with the device. Students should bring their Fundations materials and workbooks if they are in grade 1 or 2. We use a different math program than RLA used, so there is no need to bring math books.

Report Cards

Trimester 3 ends on March 19th. Report cards will be available for parents to view in the Powerschool Portal on April 1, 2021. Please contact Kelly Ford if you need assistance with Powerschool.
