North Hampton School

Weekly Note from Ms. Snyder 5/21/21

Dear NHS Community,

What a beautiful week we have had at NHS! The weather has been so nice that classes have been able to be outside quite a bit. There have been high levels of pollen and some insects to contend with, but overall, we’ll take it! Please be aware that ticks may be starting to make themselves known in the woods, so it is a good idea to check your child each day. It is also helpful for students to wear sunscreen, socks and sneakers.

Moving?

If you plan to move out of North Hampton or if your child will be attending private school next year, please let Kelly Ford know. You can reach Kelly at kford@sau21.org

End of Year Report Cards

Students will receive a final report card in June. Parents will once again access the report cards via the parent portal in Powerschool. We will let you know the date they will be accessible soon.

8th Grade Events

We are in the midst of planning for 8th grade graduation on June 10th. Graduation will take place outdoors on our field. We plan to have a small stage and chairs in groups of 4 for families. If students have more than 4 guests, they will need to watch from a bit farther away. We are making plans based on current state guidance for schools and are planning to require masks, unless people are 6ft apart. Graduation will begin at 6 PM on June 10th, with a rain date of June 14th.

NHS Student Government is planning an 8th grade dance on June 4th, outdoors. We have also been working to have a mini-golf day for 8th graders on June 11th during the school day...more information to follow. We plan to distribute yearbooks on Monday, June 14th. The last day of school will be June 15th, with a 12:00 dismissal. We are planning on having a ‘clap out’ for the 8th graders, in which they take a last lap around the building and all students clap for them. The clapping part will likely take place outdoors.

Student Laptops and iPads

We will be collecting all student devices on the last day of school. If you have a middle school student, please be sure you have returned the laptop and the charger.

Step Up Day

On June 14th, students will have the opportunity to meet the teaching team for the grade they will be in next year. This is a short visit outside. Parents will be informed of classroom assignments in August.

Library Books

If you have any overdue library books hiding in your house, please send them back to school.

Mrs. McCombs really misses them. We know routines have been interrupted by the pandemic, so it is understandable if some library books were misplaced. Please take a look around your house this weekend. Thank you!
