North Hampton School

Weekly Note from Ms. Snyder 5/18/22

May 18, 2022

Dear NHS Community,

1st Annual Jaguar Gala

The 1st Annual Jaguar Gala (formerly the Glitter Ball) is coming soon!  Join NHS PAL on Saturday, June 4th from 6:00-8:30 PM at the North Hampton School for an “Enchanted Evening” with dancing and desserts.  This event is open to all NHS students to bring a special adult in their lives (this is not a drop off event and students must be accompanied by an adult).  Plus, our very own Christina McAlister will be taking formal photos!  Dress your best to impress for a fun evening!

Advanced ticket, corsage and boutonnière purchases will begin Friday at www.nhspal.com

May PAL Meeting Rescheduled

The May PAL Meeting has been rescheduled for next Tuesday, May 24th at 6pm in the school cafeteria.  Please join us to learn more about what our school's PTO does, as we continue our search for Chair/Co-Chairs for the 2022/23 school year.  This position will need to be filled in order for PAL to continue operating.

Show Your P.R.I.D.E

Students at NHS are earning pawprints when they show their NHS PRIDE.

We have filled the first VERY LARGE PAWPRINT with paws indicating positive actions from our students! Jaggy will visit K-5 classes tomorrow (Thursday) for some dancing fun. Jaggy has a different treat in mind for grades 6-8 on Friday. Once the second PAWPRINT is filled, each class will decide their own reward. It feels great to recognize the positive PRIDE values of perseverance, respect and responsibility, integrity, doing the right thing, and empathy.

“At The Reception”

The 8th Grade Musical Revue will be presented on May 19 and 20 at 6:30pm.

SAS Testing in May

NH State testing will take place in May in grades 3-8. Please make every effort to have your student arrive on time to school on testing days. If they miss a test day, we will provide a makeup day for them.

North Hampton Public Library

The new North Hampton Library is a wonderful community resource for children and adults. They have a great summer reading initiative and access to many books and materials.

Some of our students who are aged 10 and up have been going to the library after school to do homework or read, so I am including some information for parents who allow their children to go to the public library after school.

Arrangements for students to go to the library after school should be made before children come to school. Unless there is an emergency, teachers aren’t able to facilitate changes in after school plans when students hear friends may be doing something they’d like to do too. The public library is a great place to do homework and read. However, there is no direct adult supervision unless a student is enrolled in a library program. Students are expected to follow all library rules and guidelines when there. Parents should also be aware that the public library has unfiltered access to the internet. Here is the information from their website and a link to the children’s page:

“North Hampton Public Library subscribes to the Library Bill of Rights.  The library provides access to all library materials for all users, including internet access, within the library’s policies regarding acceptable use of the internet.

NHPL offers direct, unfiltered access to the Internet, as part of its commitment to public access to information. It should be known that, in keeping with the American Library Association’s statement on Library Use of Filtering Software, filtering is not employed by the NHPL.  More information

This commitment to provide free unfiltered access to information for all includes, but is not limited to the NHPL public access computers, chromebooks/boxes, laptops, and any other wired or wireless device used within the library.”
