Dear NHS Families,
The Talent Show is back!
We are excited to announce that North Hampton School will have a Talent Show on November 9th at 6 PM in the school cafeteria. All interested students must follow the guidelines set out in the attached flyer to participate. All students and families are welcome to attend. Please contact Ms. Zavez, Mr. Singer, or Mrs. Oliver with any questions.
What is that thing?
If you ‘ve been near our playground, you may have noticed a new wooden structure that is low to the ground and octagonal. We’ve overheard some younger children ask, “Is it going to be a garden?” “Is it going to be a petting zoo?” The answer is that it is a Gaga Pit. It is a gift from the 8th grade class of 2022. Gaga is a game that involves a soft ball and a group of children. There are specific rules for play. Our PE teachers are teaching all students in grades 1-8 how to play and follow the rules. We anticipate that it will be open for recess play sometime very soon.
Curriculum Night Reminder
NHS Curriculum Night is tonight (Sept. 29)! We look forward to seeing parents/guardians here. Please remember that children DO NOT attend this evening. North Hampton Rec. Dept. is providing child care at their Lafayette Crossing site for a $10 fee. Registration is required. Here is the schedule:
5:30-6:10 Presentations in classrooms for grades PK-4
6:15-6:45 Open UA classrooms for parents to visit and ask questions (Art, Music, PE, Library, Technology, Health)
6:50-7:30 Presentations in classrooms for grades 5-8
Author Trudy Ludwig to Visit NHS
We are very excited to host Trudy Ludwig for an author visit for grades K-5 on October 12th. Trudy has written many picture books on the topic of kindness, inclusion, peer relationships, and bullying for children. Some of her titles include: “Just Kidding,” “Trouble Talk,” “The Invisible Boy,” “My Secret Bully,” “Sorry!,” “The Power of One,” and more. Trudy will also give a parent talk that evening at 6 PM in our cafeteria. Her talk will be titled, “Understanding Our Kids’ Social World: Friendships, Cliques, and Power Plays.” This talk will be appropriate for parents of all students in grades K-8. New this week: North Hampton Rec. Dept. will offer free child care on site during the presentation. You must sign up ahead of time with the Rec. Dept.
Parent/Teacher Conferences–Oct. 19th
NHS will be scheduling Parent/Teacher conferences on Wednesday, October 19, 2022. This is an early release day for students so conferences will begin after 12:30 PM. Teachers will send out information about how to schedule a conference with them. They will be offering options for either in person or virtual conferences. If you are unable to make this date work, teachers will be flexible and find a mutually agreeable time to meet with you. Middle School parents who have not yet accessed the Powerschool Parent Portal will need to do so prior to conferences. Please contact Sue MacLaughlin in our office if you need assistance–smaclaughlin@sau21.org.
