October 21, 2022
Dear NHS Families,
Trunk or Treat is tonight! October 21, 2022 from 5:30- 8:00 PM with a 4:30 set up time for cars who have reserved parking spaces. The weather looks great for the second annual event!
We were happy to see so many parents meeting with teachers for conferences this week. I am sure you were able to learn more about your child’s progress and hopefully see some student work.
Safety Assembly
We had a great safety assembly today in school. North Hampton Police Chief Mone stopped by for kids to get to know her a bit better. We read the picture book, “Officer Buckle and Gloria” and even had a visit from Jaggy with some safety tips. Then Student Government members presented a great skit about how to safely and fairly play Gaga Ball in our new Gaga Pit. The Gaga Pit opens for recess next week.
SEL Information from SAU 21 Asst. Supt. Dr. Mary Toomey
Dr. Toomey has posted information about an SEL tool that is available to all schools in SAU 21. It is called the PEAR HSA screening tool for SEL. She plans to have it administered to students in grades 3-12 with parental consent. Since it is a non-academic survey, NH law requires express written consent from parents. The data could be used to see trends in SEL strengths in each building and to identify areas where our curriculum may need adjustment. It can also be used when individual students struggle. Only students whose parents return the permission forms will take the survey in school. Please see the links to the information on the SAU website. We plan to send the actual permission forms and school specific letter in a separate email next week.
You can find all the information, including the actual survey, on the link below on the SAU site.

Halloween
Students in grades K-3 are invited to bring/wear costumes to school on October 28, 2022. We will have a short Halloween parade outside. Parents/guardians are invited to view the parade outdoors behind the school at 9:00 AM. Costumes must be school appropriate with no violent themes, fake blood, or toy weapons included in the costume. We prefer that students not wear costume masks as it is difficult for them to see while walking in the parade. Following the parade, students will change back into their school clothes for the remainder of the day. We chose Oct. 28th because North Hampton Trick or Treat night is Oct. 30th and we guessed everyone would be done with costumes after that. As a reminder, we do not accept home baked items at school. If your child’s class is having any treats that day, please check with the teacher and be sure they come from an approved kitchen. This is due to our wellness policies. Thank you.
