Dear NHS Families,
NHS Spirit Week is going well! Today is Tropical Day. Don’t forget that tomorrow is Pajama Day.
Water Testing
North Hampton School recently completed water testing for lead in drinking water. This is part of an ongoing effort related to New Hampshire’s House Bill 1421, which requires school and child care facilities to test for lead in drinking water and to act when lead is found at levels at or above 5 parts per billion (ppb).
Because lead is tasteless, odorless and colorless in drinking water, testing is a way to learn whether lead is present. It is important to sample each faucet or water fountain that is used for drinking or food prep because test results can vary between locations.
During recent testing, samples from 92 drinking water outlets were collected (e.g., drinking fountains, classroom faucets, kitchen sinks), with NO samples testing at or above 5 ppb, the level where action must be taken. This is good news for us and reassuring that our water is safe.
NHS Budget for the 2023-2024 School Year
It is budget season and NHS will hold a deliberative session open to the public on Feb. 7 in the NHS cafeteria at 7 PM. Budget presentations and documents are posted on the school website and the SAU 21 website homepage (Budget info). When you click on the 2023-2024 Budget Information tab, you will see information from all the SAU 21 schools. Click on the North Hampton information to see the budget presentation, and budget summary. Warrant article links should be live soon. Once live, you will see them all, but notably, you will notice the Teacher Contract warrant article and the SRO (School Resource Officer) warrant article. Additionally, you will see that there is one open seat for the North Hampton School Board on the ballot. On the SAU homepage, you will also see a narrated powerpoint presentation with important information about the warrant article for the proposed teacher contract (CBA-collective bargaining agreement). We are hopeful for community support for all school and town warrant articles. Town election day is March 14, 2023.
