Weekly Note from Ms. Snyder 2/2/2023

February 2, 2023

Dear NHS Families,

It is so nice  to see families come in for parent conferences this week. We are proud of how well our teachers know your children and hope you have fruitful conversations with them about your child’s growth in school.

Don’t forget about our Food Drive for Gather that is taking place now! See the items by grade below.

Advice on Talking about Media Violence

With the recent release of police video depicting violence in a variety of situations, coupled with nightly news images, and news videos available online, we thought it may be helpful to share a resource for managing times when children may view such images or videos. For parents of young children, the article is specific about suggesting that parents be keenly aware of what is on the TV news that could be upsetting. Here is a link to the article:

NHS Budget for the 2023-2024 School Year

It is budget season and NHS will hold a deliberative session open to the public on Feb. 7 in the NHS cafeteria at 7 PM. Budget presentations and documents are posted on the school website and the SAU 21 website homepage (Budget info). When you click on the 2023-2024 Budget Information tab, you will see information from all the SAU 21 schools. Click on the North Hampton information to see the budget presentation, and budget summary. Warrant article links should be live soon.  Once live, you will see them all, but notably, you will notice the Teacher Contract warrant article and the SRO (School Resource Officer) warrant article. Additionally, you will see that there is one open seat for the North Hampton School Board on the ballot.  On the SAU homepage, you will also see a narrated powerpoint presentation with important information about the warrant article for the proposed teacher contract (CBA-collective bargaining agreement). We are hopeful for community support for all school and town warrant articles. Town election day is March 14, 2023.
