North Hampton School

Weekly Note from Ms. Snyder 12/20/2023

December 20, 2023

Dear NHS Families,

It’s almost the end of 2023! It’s hard to believe we are looking at 2024 already. I hope you enjoy the holiday season with your children, extended family, and friends. It is a time to revel in the joy that children bring to your home. I am sure they love their family traditions around the holidays. As they get older, they will hold your traditions close to their hearts. In my family, we don’t say “cheers” for a toast, we say “happy days.” I am told is was likely born from post WW II times when people said, “happy days are here again.” Whether that is where it really came from or not, I wish all North Hampton families Happy Days for the vacation and all of 2024!

Important Schedule Change

The NH state primary election was recently announced and scheduled for January 23, 2023. Because the town uses the school for voting, the North Hampton School Board voted last night to not have school on this day. There will be no school for students on January 23rd.

Many thanks to Dan Singer and Mary Oliver for presenting two wonderful concerts this month featuring our band and chorus students in grades 5-8! Dan Singer also brought our 4th graders to the town library to sing for some guests and parents on Dec. 19th.

Dates to remember:

Dec. 22: Full day of school

Dec. 25-Jan. 1: Winter vacation week–no school

Jan. 2: Classes resume

Jan. 4: North Hampton School Board meeting at 6:30 PM

Jan. 15: No school- Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Jan. 17: PAL meeting at 6 PM

Jan. 23: No school for staff and students–Primary Election Day

Message from North Hampton Public Library

The North Hampton Library staff asked us to send this information out to parents. They love having your children visit the library, but also need to enforce their policies so that the library is a safe and happy place for all visitors. Please read it carefully and check out their policy on children in the library.

Children under the age of eleven (11) may not be left unattended at the library unless that child is attending a library program that specifically states that participating children do not have to have a parent in attendance with them. A child is unattended if a parent is not present with the child at all times while in the library.

At the discretion of a parent, a child aged eleven (11) to thirteen (13) may be left unattended for up to 2 hours as long as the child knows how to reach a parent in case the need arises. Children may not be left longer than two hours; the library does not provide child care services.
