North Hampton School

Weekly Note from Ms. Snyder 1/19/2024

January 19, 2024

Dear NHS Families,

Reminder: There is no school on Tuesday, January 23rd due to the NH Primary Elections.

North Hampton School Spelling Bee–Jan. 30th

It’s almost time for the annual Spelling Bee! Interested students in grade 4-8 may participate. Participants must attend at least one practice session.

New Computers!

Our new desktop computers are here in the North Hampton School Computer Lab. Over the winter break, we replaced our out of date desktop computers in the lab with new Apple Desktop computers. Since the ones in the lab were newer than many older models still in classrooms, we re-purposed the old computer lab desktops to replace the oldest desktop computers in classrooms. We will recycle the outdated models. This is part of our replacement cycle for technology. Over the next year, we will replace some of our aging laptop computers. Each student at NHS has either an iPad or a laptop to use in school in addition to the desktop computers. Many thanks to our Systems Administrator, Rob Welsh, for all the work in setting up and repurposing the desktops.

100th Day Food Drive Starts Soon

Our First grade team facilitates a Food Drive each year to benefit Gather. They choose this time of year because many food pantries don’t receive as many donations as they do during the holiday season. The Food Drive will kick off on January 26th. On that day, each grade will find out what kind of food they should collect to donate. Stay tuned for more information soon.

Message from North Hampton Public Library

The North Hampton Library staff asked us to send this information out to parents. They love having your children visit the library, but also need to enforce their policies so that the library is a safe and happy place for all visitors. Please read it carefully and check out their policy on children in the library.

Children under the age of eleven (11) may not be left unattended at the library unless that child is attending a library program that specifically states that participating children do not have to have a parent in attendance with them. A child is unattended if a parent is not present with the child at all times while in the library.

At the discretion of a parent, a child aged eleven (11) to thirteen (13) may be left unattended for up to 2 hours as long as the child knows how to reach a parent in case the need arises. Children may not be left longer than two hours; the library does not provide child care services.
