Dear NHS Families,

FY 25 Budget

The Deliberative Session for the School Budget for next year (2024-2025) is scheduled for Feb. 7th at 7 PM. It will take place at NHS in our cafeteria. Among the warrant articles is one to approve a new contract for our EA’s. Their union is called SESPA. The new contract incorporates much needed increases in pay and benefits for our EA’s. Budget information and documents can be found on the SAU 21 website (SAU 21 budget info) or from the link on our school website (https://www.northhamptonschool.org/) by clicking the green tab that says 24/25 Budget/Warrant Articles.

The annual NHS Spelling Bee was held on Jan. 30th. We had a great turnout with over 30 students in grades 4-8 participating. This year’s winners were:

Third Place: Wyn Raksakulthai

The championship word was ‘surfactant.’ Many thanks to organizers Linda Donohoe and Trish Johnston and judges Becca Carlson and Bobbi Burns. Participants did a great job and we had an amazing audience. Thanks to all who attended!

We will be about halfway through Trimester 2 in mid-February. We will have parent conferences on Feb. 14th as well as other times during the week. Students will have an early release day on Feb. 14th. Teachers will send out notices about how to sign up for conference times. We value the opportunity to meet with parents to discuss student progress. Parents can choose to meet in person or have a virtual conference.

The Little Mermaid

Rehearsals begin next week for the Middle School production of “The Little Mermaid.” Cast members have their schedules and the practicing begins! You can come see the play April 5th, 6th, or 7th! As Sebastian says, “We got no troubles. Life is the bubbles. Under the sea!” We can always count on a great production at NHS! Our directors and coordinators are: Marsha Zavez, Brenda Conley, Karen Donohoe, and Dan Singer.
