North Hampton School

Weekly Note from Ms. Snyder 3/28/2024

March 28, 2024

Dear NHS Families,

Reminder: There is no school on Wednesday, April 3, 2024. It is a professional day for teachers and staff.

Solar Eclipse Watch Party at NHS

We are planning a Solar Eclipse Watch Party on the Soccer field at NHS after school on April 8th.  Parents can sign their child up to attend the Watch Party by noting it in Pick Up Patrol by April 4th.

Parents are invited to attend. We have eclipse glasses for each student and a guest. Please note on Pick Up Patrol if you plan to attend with your child.

We will provide a light snack for all students to eat outside on the field. Students should bring a towel to sit on. Each grade level will have a marked area on the field. We expect students who attend to sit with their grade level and keep their eclipse glasses on during the eclipse.

The adults at each grade level will take attendance and note if a parent is present. If the parent is present, we will consider them dismissed to the parent at that time. Students who attend without a parent will be dismissed in the car line area at 3:45 PM promptly.

Students who are dismissed to the Rec. Dept. after school care will have the chance to see the eclipse with Mr. Manzi and the group.

If your child needs bus transportation, they should take the bus at the regular dismissal time.

Preschoolers are dismissed at 2:30 PM. Preschool parents who wish to bring their children back are welcome to sit with the kindergarten group.

Times:

2:45: Students and staff attending the Watch Party will go out to the soccer field and stay in their grade level area.

2:50: Regular dismissal for students who are going home at the regular dismissal time.

2:55: Snack-Sun chips, apple, water

3:45: Pick up in Car line for students who attended the Watch Party

Important Note: If the weather is rainy or the eclipse will not be visible due to heavy cloud cover, we will cancel the party. We will make that decision by 1:00 PM on April 8th.

Message from North Hampton Public Library

The North Hampton Library staff asked us to send this information out to parents. They love having your children visit the library, but also need to enforce their policies so that the library is a safe and happy place for all visitors. Please read it carefully and check out their policy on children in the library.

Children under the age of eleven (11) may not be left unattended at the library unless that child is attending a library program that specifically states that participating children do not have to have a parent in attendance with them. A child is unattended if a parent is not present with the child at all times while in the library.

At the discretion of a parent, a child aged eleven (11) to thirteen (13) may be left unattended for up to 2 hours as long as the child knows how to reach a parent in case the need arises. Children may not be left longer than two hours; the library does not provide child care services.
