Weekly Note from Ms. Snyder 5/16/2024

May 16, 2024

Dear NHS Families,

Art Show, Book Fair, and Plant Sale

This event was a big success! With many plants for sale, courtesy of the Greenhouse Committee, tons of books for sale, courtesy of Betsy McCombs, and all the beautiful and creative artwork, courtesy of all of our students and their art teachers, Erica Nardone and Marsha Zavez, it was a wonderful afternoon. Thank you to the many volunteers and parents who made it all possible. Thank you to all who attended and supported the events in and out of school.

End of School Year

As the school year nears its end, we ask that any families who are planning to move out of North Hampton inform us so we may plan for next year. If you have moved or are planning to move outside of town, please contact Sue MacLaughlin in our office. We also update records on a rotating basis. If you have a child currently in grade 2 or 5, you should have received a request to provide an updated proof of residency. If you have a child currently in grade 3 or 6, you should have received a request for an updated physical/immunization report for our health records. Thank you.

NHS Plastic Bag Recycling Challenge

We are collecting plastic bags to recycle! Believe it or not, they are used in making Trex decking material. If we can collect 1,000 pounds of bags by May 2025, we will earn a free Trex bench for our school and help reduce plastic waste! See the flyer for types of bags we can collect.

During the month of May, the North Hampton Police remind the town of safety regulations and recommendations. Children should be buckled in a seatbelt or appropriate car seat, depending on their age and size. Officer Kyle will be here during the next 2 weeks reminding drivers

Jaggy’s Birthday

Come have lunch with your child at school on May 29th and celebrate Jaggy’s birthday. Adults can pre-order and pre-pay for their lunch. Students can charge their lunch to their account. We ask that parents not bring any take out food but rather sign up for school lunch if they wish to eat here. We plan to eat outdoors that day. Parents and guardians who sign up would come at their child’s recess/lunch time. Here is the schedule:

11:00-11:45: Grades K-2

11:25-12:10: Grades 3, 7, 8

11:55-12:35: Grades 4, 5

12:15-12:50: Grade 6

If your child wants to make a birthday card and/or bring a gift for Jaggy, he LOVES boxes of kleenex, ziploc bags (gallon, quart, or sandwich size), Cleaning wipes, Sidewalk chalk, Snack sized packages of healthy snacks, packages of markers (both crayola and expo), and Number 2 pencils. Jaggy is good at sharing with teachers too!
