Sept. 12, 2024
Dear North Hampton Families,
Can you believe we have been back in school for almost 3 weeks? Students are settled in and seem happy. We have been so lucky to enjoy great weather for outdoor time so far. There are 2 opportunities for parents and guardians to learn more about their child’s social and academic experience and progress early in the school year. The first is Curriculum Night on Sept. 17th. This is a group event for adults. Students DO NOT attend this event. Teachers will share important information about curriculum and grade level expectations. This is not an individual conference time. Our Parent Conferences are scheduled for the week of Oct. 8th. Some teachers are already sending sign ups to families in Parent Square. You will hear directly from your child’s teacher to schedule your individual conference time. Late afternoon conferences will be available until 6 PM on Oct. 10th. Mid-day conferences will be available from 12:30-3:00 PM on Oct. 11th. Teachers will offer additional options if these do not work for your family.

Curriculum Night
North Hampton School Curriculum Night is September 17th! This is an evening when parents and guardians learn about grade level curriculum and expectations from the teachers. Students do not attend this event. This year, we are trying a different class schedule in an attempt to minimize families with multiple children/classrooms to visit. Here is the schedule:
6:00-6:30– Presentations in classrooms in grades K, 1, 4, 5, 8
6:30-7:00– Choice of 1)Computer Lab/Parent Square support and info, 2)Portrait of a Learner video in the cafeteria-shown twice at 6:35 and 6:45, and 3) Visit UA classes
7:00-7:30– Presentations in classrooms in grades PK, 2, 3, 6, 7
During the middle session, parents will have choices and can move to and from the 3 choices. To learn more about Parent Square features or to get assistance in setting up your account, go to the computer lab. Parent Square can send emails to families without downloading the app. That said, the app has features that many families may find useful. We are all learning how to use the features from the school end too, so please be patient with us as we learn. We know that families value the opportunity to check in with UA teachers so feel free to visit Art, Music, PE, Library, and Spanish. And lastly, you may recall that the SAU engaged in some strategic planning with input from stakeholders to develop a “Portrait of a Learner.” The following pillars were identified as areas that our communities wish for students to develop skills and competencies: Academics (programming that meets student needs, interests, and abilities), Mindsets(traits and habits critical to success), Essential Life Skills (skills necessary in our complex and changing world), Physical and Mental Wellness (balanced and healthy social, emotional, and physical life), and Community Engagement (commitment to our local and global community). Last spring, some students from each of the SAU 21 schools were asked questions around these pillars on video. These clips were put together to create a short video highlighting how students feel about their schools as we go forward on our path with an eye for continual improvement in our schools.
