Jan. 2, 2025
Dear North Hampton Families,
Happy New Year! Our best wishes for a healthy and happy 2025 go out to all of our families.
Kindergarten Registration Opens Soon
It is that time of year already! If you know of any families who have a child who will be 5 by Sept. 30, 2025, please let them know it is time to register for kindergarten for the 2025-2026 school year. Registration will be open from Jan. 16, 2025 through Feb. 21, 2025. Registration can be done online beginning on Jan. 16th. Parents/Guardians can upload necessary documents and fill in all forms online. We require proof of residency, copy of the child’s birth certificate, health records, and all online forms.
Reading Matters
We all know that building strong reading skills and habits supports student achievement in school. At NHS, we strive to provide high quality instruction in reading and writing each and every day. To improve reading skills, children also need to PRACTICE these skills by reading on their own. When students read, their world opens up to new ideas, topics, stories, and interests. Studies have shown the benefits of reading over and over again. Please read SAU 21 Curriculum Director, Shay Cassily’s newsletter below (in the attachment section) on the many benefits of daily reading.

Heart Screening Opportunity for Gr. 5-8
North Hampton School will be partnering with an organization called “Who We Play For” to offer cardiac screenings to students in grade 5-8 on Feb. 17, 2025. (See flyer at the bottom of this email for more details.) The cost for this screening is $20. If you would like to have your child screened, but need financial assistance, please let Nurse Mara know. An electrocardiogram is painless, non-invasive, and only takes 5 minutes to complete. Each ECG will be read by a board certified pediatric cardiologist. I will send reminders about this opportunity in January. All sign ups are online through the “Who We Play For” registration portal. Many thanks to Asst. Supt. Mary Toomey and the SAU 21 school nurses for bringing this to our school.
