Dear North Hampton Families,
Gratitude
November is certainly the season of gratitude and celebrations. By embracing kindness, patience, and gratitude, we can lead the way in the current times. Here is an easy activity that may be fun at your Thanksgiving table: The Colors of Gratitude. This exercise helps kids and adults reflect on the people, places, and little joys that brighten their lives. All you need are colored items like popsicle sticks or other tokens that have the colors below. Hold up a color and go around the table sharing or take turns picking a color and sharing. Here are some sample prompts.
Red–a person you are grateful for
Blue–a place that makes you feel happy
Green–a food you enjoy and appreciate
Yellow–a favorite thing you are grateful for
Black ( or any other color you choose)--free choice of gratitude
Give it a try if you are game!

School Safety
Last week, I wrote quite a bit about how we prepare and practice for emergencies. These are reactive strategies that we need to be ready with. We also believe that proactive strategies and strong relationships are even more important in preventing school violence. Our teachers strive to establish really positive, trusting relationships with students and families. It is our hope that each and every student has at least one trusted adult they would go to if needed. We are here to support them. We also teach our students to report any troubling information they may come across. Often, students or parents become aware of troubling posts, text threads, or other electronic communication that may warrant a response. It is our hope that students and parents will report any such situations to the school or the police if necessary. We also have an anonymous tip line on our school website. It is on the homepage and featured prominently. It is always better for us to follow up when we can reach out to the person who reported the concern, but an anonymous report can be important when that isn’t possible. Grade 5 & 6 Concert Date Change
Due to a conflict with Winnacunnet High School, we have moved the Grade 5 & 6 Concert to Dec. 16th (the original snow date). Hopefully, we won’t need a snow date. If we do, we plan on Dec. 18th as the snow date for either of the concerts. Thank you for your flexibility.
