NHS Family Book Clubs

Maple Sugar Shack
Many of you know that our 4th grade has embarked on a Maple Sugaring unit of study each year and built both curriculum and experiences boiling sap into maple syrup. We purchased and evaporator and a reverse osmosis device to aid in the process and have had success. This has been possible with the help of many parent and family volunteers. We are now planning to purchase a used Maple Sugar Shack (or shed) from another school in Portsmouth. PAL is funding the purchase price and we will need to move the Sugar Shack to our property. We are hoping to do this in the near future. We thought we had access to flatbed equipment large enough to move the 10’ X 20’ shed, but it turns out we do not. We are hoping there may be a family or community member willing to help with this project. The North Hampton DPW will assist us in preparing the site and provide gravel and equipment to the site prep work. If you have access to equipment (ie. truck and flatbed trailer large enough for the shed), please let us know. If you are willing to help with the move or site prep work, please let us know as well. We are grateful for the community support we have received so far and look forward to making this happen!
More Maple Sugaring News
PAL is sponsoring a fundraising event to help us purchase a more efficient evaporator that will fit better inside the new Sugar Shack. Please see the attached flyer at the bottom of this note for the Nov. 14th event at the Thirsty Moose. A percentage of the sales will come back to PAL to support this purchase. Thank you.
