Portsmouth Symphony Brass Ensemble to visit NHS!
We are very excited that the Portsmouth Symphony Brass Ensemble will do a short concert for NHS students on Oct. 22nd.
Reminder from North Hampton Police Dept.
NHPD has asked that we remind all families of the school zone speed limit of 20 MPH when school is in session and at arrival and dismissal times. Police officers have noticed many cars exceeding this limit. For the safety of our students, we ask that you be mindful of the school zone speed limit. Thank you.
October is Bullying Awareness Month
At NHS, we have a curriculum that teaches students of all ages about how to stop bullying behaviors. Students learn to Recognize, Refuse, and Report bullying. Students also learn to tell the difference between peer conflict and bullying. Bullying involves a power imbalance and generally happens over and over. In the elementary grades, we use the Second Step Bullying Prevention Program to teach these skills. Our counselor, Liz Fiore, visits classrooms and teaches a series of lessons on bullying prevention. If she hasn’t visited your child’s classroom yet, she will be teaching these lessons soon. We begin the year in the elementary grades with lessons about zones of regulation to help students identify emotions and self regulation.
Here is a short article from Second Step about how bystanders can support a friend.

Cell Phone Reminder
As a reminder, students should keep their cell phones turned off and secured in a backpack or locker during school hours. Please see the text from our student handbook:
“North Hampton School recognizes that many families provide their children with a cell phone for a variety of reasons. While in school, students are expected to keep their cell phones turned off and stored in a backpack or locker. If there is a need to contact a parent or guardian, students may use a school landline. Similarly, students are expected to not use communication features in an apple watch or other wearable device. Our web based filters protect students from dangerous content on all school devices (laptops and iPads). However, the filter cannot access individual cell phones. Our filters do not allow access to social media platforms. Please do not text your child during school hours or expect them to contact you using a cell phone.”
