North Hampton School

Weekly note from Ms. Snyder-April 10, 2025

April 10, 2025

Dear North Hampton Families,

If you haven’t already done so, please remember to log into the Powerschool Parent Portal to view your child’s report card.

Teacher Appreciation Week: May 5-9, 2025

We love our teachers at NHS and know that you do too. It is a bit early, but it will come up right after the April vacation. PAL is planning some appreciation events for them. Teachers also love a handwritten note from a parent or student letting them know how they have made a difference. Please consider taking a few moments to write your children’s teachers a note. Thank you.

2025-2026 School Year–Elementary Grades

Again, it is early, but we work hard to ensure that classes are balanced and that each child has a peer group in class. As such, each April we offer parents the opportunity to provide input into the elementary class placement process by filling out a Parent Input Form. Parents will receive a link to their child’s grade level input form in the next few days. If you choose to fill it out, please remember that we do not accept requests for teachers by name. It is more helpful when parents share how their child learns best, and if there are particular students with whom their child works well or should be separated from. While we cannot make guarantees, the placement team will take your input into careful consideration. The deadline for submitting a Parent Input Form is  April 21, 2025. Forms submitted after that date may not be considered.

2025-2026 School Year–Middle School Grades

Since middle school students all have the same teachers, we do not send Parent Input Forms to parents of rising 6-8th grade students. If you have special concerns or requests, please email your child’s homeroom teacher directly. While we cannot make guarantees, the team will take your input into consideration in making the initial homeroom lists. Please remember that middle school travel groups change each trimester.

The Jaggy Awards–April 18, 2025

It’s getting close. Dig out your camera. Dig out the fancy clothes. Students are invited to wear their finery to this Awards Show themed celebration of reading! Parents are invited to the Red Carpet walk–as paparazzi and ‘mom’-arazzi. Unfortunately, there is only room in the cafeteria for students and staff for this event. We typically walk out the gym lobby door and around the driveway to re-enter the building through the front door.

Annual Book Fair, Plant Sale, and Art Show

Mark your calendar for May 14th for this annual event. We host the Scholastic Book Fair with after school hours. The Plant Sale is always a big hit and you can view beautiful student art displayed as well.

The Jaggy Awards are Coming…April 18th

If you are new to NHS, you may wonder, “What are the Jaggy Awards?”

They are a celebration of reading in an awards show format…think the Oscars! We have a red carpet for students and staff to walk. Of course, we go all out to be dressed up for the Jaggy’s and hope to have plenty of paparazzi and “Mom” -arazzi to take pictures and see us all enter. We typically do a red carpet walk outside from the gym lobby doors to the front doors. Due to space restrictions, the actual event can only accommodate students and staff in the cafeteria. During library times, students can vote on favorite titles, authors, characters, books made into movies and more. The categories vary by grade level. The winners are then announced at the Jaggy’s. (Spoiler alert…the Wimpy Kid has been cleaning up the past few years.)

Here is a video to give you an idea of the categories:
