With applicants from all over the country, North Hampton School was excited to find the ideal person for the Curriculum Coordinator position right here on the Seacoast. We are pleased to welcome Becca Carlson to this new position and look forward to the positive impact her experience, passion, and beliefs about learning will bring to our students and faculty.

Mrs. Carlson’s teaching experiences range from elementary enrichment to AP Calculus.  She has taught in Texas and New Hampshire, public and private schools, and in multiple content areas.

She first began her work in curriculum leadership at a PreK-8 school in Dallas, where she was charged with using private school admissions testing data to fine-tune curriculum and instruction and with safeguarding the school’s identity during a transition of leadership.

More recently in New Hampshire, Mrs. Carlson’s curriculum work has centered on helping her school district to meet the changing needs of 21st century learners.  She led the work of creating vertically-aligned, competency-based curricula, facilitated the creation of performance assessments, and provided professional development on topics such as personalized instruction and data assessment.

When asked about transitioning into a new district, Mrs. Carlson replied, “I have had the pleasure of facilitating the reflective cycle of curriculum, instruction, and assessment and of supporting teachers through this iterative process. I am very excited to engage in this work with the talented and dedicated teachers of North Hampton and to work with our students, families, and administration.”

Mrs. Carlson’s education includes a Bachelor in both English and Mathematics from the University of North Texas and a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of New Hampshire.  She continues her education with advanced graduate studies coursework at Plymouth State University and the UL-SCALE Institute at Stanford University.

Mrs. Carlson and her husband, Steve, have been raising their family in Hampton Falls since 2007.  Their son, a 2017 graduate of Winnacunnet High School, currently attends Colby Sawyer College while their daughter will soon begin her senior year at Winnacunnet.  Their two Golden Retrievers can often be found running alongside them.
