Student Government hosts the Veterans Day Assembly at NHS

On Nov. 9th, the newly elected Student Government hosted the Veterans Day Assembly and Breakfast for North Hampton School.  Co-advisors Ms. Pazdon and Mrs. Carlson were very impressed with the focus, dedication, and leadership these students brought to the endeavour.

Highlights of the event included introductions of our guests by local fire department veteran Thomas Pidgeon, a story of getting Marines home for the holidays on Christmas Eve by active member of the Air National Guard Matt Pongrace, Brave Like Me read by Mrs. Eaves, a speech by Student Government President Hajna Bihari, and a performance of “America the Beautiful” and “Taps.”  Thirteen veterans were in attendance, including eight sailors from the submarine the USS New Hampshire out of Portsmouth.

The students of North Hampton School supported the Student Government’s efforts by contributing to a piece of artwork for the assembly.  Students traced their hands on red, blue, or white paper, cut out the outline, and then wrote either a message of gratitude for our military or the name of a veteran they know on the paper hand.  The Student Government then assembled the hands into a giant American flag.

Following the assembly, Student Government served a light breakfast to their honored guests and enjoyed asking questions and hearing the stories of life in the military.

Beyond those listed above, the Student Government would like to express their appreciation to Joe Kutt for inviting our local veterans to the event and to Mrs. Zavez, Ms. Brown, Mr. Singer,  and Mrs. Field for their help with the event.

The Student Government is currently composed of:  President Hajna Bihari, Vice President Greta Geyer, Secretary Maddie Brandt, Treasurer Liam Dionne, 8th Grade Representatives Jacob Coyman, Evy Marshall, and Gabby Todaro, and 7th Grade Representatives Laird Sullivan, Kadric Porter, Brady Bernier, and Ava Sebeny.
